Save Time and Money with Our Newest API

There’s a new star in our API Library! Find out how the Get Customer By Phone call can increase revenue by saving you time and money.

Picture the scene: A customer calls your institution and wants to talk about something on his account—let’s say he wants to change the mailing address. You place him on hold, turn to your computer screen, and sign into CIM GOLD … it’s been a while since you were actively using it after you came in this morning. You take the customer off hold and ask for his account number … but he can’t remember it. So you ask for his name, and after he responds, you type in M-U-R-D-O-C-K on the Customer Search screen and hit Submit, and up comes a list of a dozen Murdock accounts. But his first name doesn’t seem to be on the list. No, no, he explains, it’s spelled M-U-R-D-O-C-H. So you run the search again, and this time you find him. Now … what were we doing? Oh yeah, he wants to change his mailing address …

Sound familiar?

Now imagine this: A customer calls your institution and wants to talk about something on his account—let’s say he wants to change the mailing address. Your institution’s internal system has already pulled up a list of all the accounts associated with the phone number he’s calling from, so his account is already in front of you. You click on it, change the address, and say goodbye to another satisfied customer.

No putting him on hold. No asking for his account number or name. No misspelling of the name. No need to even log in to CIM GOLD.

This dream scenario is brought to you courtesy of GOLDPoint Systems’ new Get Customer By Phone API call. Let’s learn a little more about it, shall we?

Introducing the Get Customer By Phone API Call

The Get Customer By Phone call is part of the Loan Servicing API in the API Library. When a customer calls your institution, Get Customer By Phone can be used to pull the phone number from which they are calling and pass it into the system to pull up a list of all the accounts at your institution that are associated with that number. Along with the account number, it also pulls the customer’s full name, Social Security number (or EIN), household ID, and sequence number.

Even better, the information returned by this call can be passed into any other API call in the Loan Servicing or Customer Profile libraries (both part of our API Library) to run any of those calls as well. This means that you can, for example, change a customer’s mailing address only using API calls, without ever needing to log into CIM GOLD.

What You Can Do with Get Customer By Phone

If you’re a programmer (even if you’re not), I’m sure you can think of many ways to use this call. Here are a few possibilities:

  • Change a customer’s mailing address
  • Add a new email address for the account
  • Update the customer’s phone number or add a new phone number
  • Post comments to the account
  • Check the payoff amount for a customer’s loan

With a little imagination and some programming know-how, the sky’s the limit with this API call! If your institution isn’t currently using any of our APIs, this is a great place to get started. It’s a lot easier than it might look, and there’s so much you can do with it.

How to Access Get Customer By Phone

If your institution is already using the Loan Servicing API from the API Library, then you’re ready to go! The Get Customer By Phone call is already available—here’s the endpoint (please note, this is for the Beta version):

If your institution is not using the Loan Servicing API yet, you’ll need three things:

  1. Access to the Loan Servicing API
  2. A securitization token
  3. The API Library documentation

For the first two, contact your account manager and send in a work order. For the last one, you can find documentation for the API Library online at this URL: https://api.goldpointbeta.com/library/dashboard. Click on the three-line icon in the upper left corner to open the menu, and then either search or navigate to the Get Customer By Phone API call to see the complete documentation (see the image below).
