Tips and Tricks for Reducing Slowdown in CIM GOLD

Written by Charles Burnett | December 5, 2023

Do you ever find yourself working in CIM GOLD and thinking it feels…sluggish?

Sometimes, CIM needs to download information from GOLDPoint servers and, depending on your user settings, this can be a burden on your bandwidth. Luckily, several of these user settings are easy to change. Keep reading to learn more about fields on the Options tab of the User Preferences dialog (accessed from the Options menu as shown below) that can help CIM run faster when adjusted.

View Closed/Released/Unopened Accounts, Show Archived Accounts in Search: You can use these three checkboxes to indicate whether CIM will show you closed, released or unopened accounts, as well as whether archived accounts will show up in system searches. If you do not need to regularly manage information for these types of accounts, turning these options off is a no-brainer.

Number of Days Back to Show History/Collection Comments: The system will not retrieve history or collection comments that are older than the number of days listed in these fields. Make sure these fields are kept at a reasonable number so CIM doesn’t get bogged down returning unnecessarily large numbers of search results.

Use Manifest: If this option is enabled, CIM will save cached copies of screen dll files on your local hard drive. This will prevent CIM from slowing down to reload screens as you navigate between them.

Of course, GOLDPoint Systems also encourages our clients to update to each new version of CIM GOLD as it becomes available. This guarantees that you’re working with the most efficient version of the program as possible. If you continue to experience slowdown issues even after updating CIM and adjusting these fields, please reach out to your GOLDPoint Systems account manager for further suggestions.
